I've never had issues caused by forcing Vsync through NVCP globally, except when for whatever reason it doesn't work for certain games, in which case you'll have to resort to their in-game implementation which may or may not be problematic. This is a good implementation you can pretty much almost always trust to do its job well. Again, you can only try to test, but some of these changes can creep up on you in unforeseen circumstances admittedly. Some games could bundle other changes with the Vsync toggle, for instance they could be also changing "pre-rendered frames" behind the scenes to accommodate lag or just about whatever they want, which can be good or bad. Some implementations of in-game Vsync can cause stutter for instance. Only way to know is to look at frame-times with it engaged and sample for yourself a bit of gameplay. If there are issues, it's not because they're both enabled together or because it's a mix of on off (NVCP will override the core function of Vsync either way), so long as both don't cause issues, together they still wouldn't cause issues.ĭepends on the game entirely.
